Welcome on the website of the Voluntary Fire Brigade in Smętowo Graniczne ,
made in February 2004 and regulary updated with everyday events from our Unit life.
You can find here informations about the history of our OSP, actual equipment, events and activity descriptions during 2004-2006, various stats and articles.
We have made the topic "Training Stuff", build on the information that are learned
during the Private Course of VFB, which we want to recommend to all Volunteer Firemen.
Still in rebuilt are sites for the members of the Youth Fire Teams,
and topics such as First Help and About Smętowo.
VFB in Smętwo Graniczne was established in 1960. During those 46 years we had
several cars, and now we are using two rescue-fire Cars: GBA and GBM, and SLOp.
Currently we are having 36 members (including 2 women):
15 paramedics, 15 OSP Privates, 9 drivers
Youth Fire Team consists of a group of 17 young boys.
Our unit takes part in many events for some reasons:
* show community that we are a very good Voluntary Fire Brigade,
* keep good contact with people and local schools,
* grow up their knowledge about fire protection.
Year by year the amount of our interventions to various events is growing:
42 in 2002, 43 in 2003, 50 in 2004, 76 in 2005 and 57 in 2006.
We take part in extinguishing fires, help injured people in traffic accidents,
remove insects coccons, cut off the trees, pump the water from buildings,
and in many other , sometimes very dangerous, actions.
We are constantly growing up our knowledge to be fully prepared when the
Speedway A-1 near Kopytkowo will be finished and "secured" by our Unit.
For a small VFB it is very important to maintain a good contact with youth,
as a protection for the furthter Unit existence.
Nowadays we do not have problem with that, because we have 17 YFT members,
but nobody knows if they would like to become a real volunteer-firefighters.
That is why we organise trainings open for new candidates, teach fire-protection,
first help, take part in Youth Fire Team Competitions.

which we want to recommend to all Volunteer-Firemen.
